As will be immediately apparent from the paucity of entries on this page, I haven’t dipped my toe very far into the murky waters of article writing. These are both puff pieces, basically. The Viewfinder article was written to promote the Audiovisual Citation Guidelines, a project I had been managing for the British Universities Film and Video Council (now rechristened Learning on Screen). However, the Harbour Magazine article was rather fun. I wrote this while temping at the Book Club Associates; one of the full-time copywriters, Neil (I’m afraid I can’t remember his surname), did a fair amount of freelancing on the side, but didn’t have time to take this one on. Farming it out to me was quite generous of him , as not only did I get paid, I also spent the afternoon being primped, pampered and pummelled by the capable club staff, the last of whom seemed amused that I kept my boxer shorts on for the massage.
